Ready, steady, paint

published Sep 2021

Last week saw the third of five VQ58s being moved by road to the painting hall. Transporting a VQ yacht is always…

…an amazing thing to behold and a key moment that demands the involvement of a number of professionals and considerable organisation and care. Such giant structures are usually moved late at night when the Dutch roads are much quieter, and the aluminium glistening in the lights made for a mystical sight.

The custom-built VQ58 is a Wheelhouse model with a tender garage on the starboard side (click here for more images). Also currently being painted is a VQ58 Hardtop with an aft tender garage and a VQ58 Open which we are building for a client in New York.

The wheelhouse of the VQ58 makes her ideally suited for longer trips with larger groups. The foredeck, aft deck and various shaded areas provide luxury seating for 23 passengers on comfortable, newly designed sofas and sunbeds. Spacious gangways allow people to easily and safely move around while the layout of the yacht and its large sunroof provide a sense of openness throughout.

Comfort of a different kind is also a focal point on deck. Refrigerators, microwaves, ice-makers, wine coolers and grills make longer stays on board a real party.

The tender garage offers space for the new VQ11 or a Williams Tender to facilitate fast and efficient transport to and from beach clubs or for other brief outings. The choice of propulsion is entirely up to each owner’s preferences: being a Veloce model, the new VQ58 can achieve speeds of over 50 knots.

The first VQ58 will be delivered to her proud owner this coming May.
